IPC Challenge Testing
IPC permits a method of certification called challenge testing in which the student omits lecture and review questions involved with a training course and only performs the graded portions of the standard they are certifying to.
IPC does not permit challenge testing in the following situations:
Certification Levels
Certified IPC Specialist (CIT) challenge testing is not permitted for a first time certification. CITs may choose to perform challenge testing in lieu of retraining for the following standards:
Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) challenge testing is permitted for first-time certification. CISs may choose to perform challenge testing in lieu of training or retraining for the following standards:

- A CIS who has only been certified in the 32-hour J-STD-001ES Space Applications-only course.
